Thanks for Attending the Fellowship Committee Pub Night

On Thursday, November 15, the Fellowship Committee hosted a Pub Night at Mahony & Sons Burrard Landing.  The event was well attended and it was nice to see some familiar faces along with many new ones! 

One of the initiatives of the Fellowship Committee is to further engage and grow our membership with these types of events.  To that end, we encouraged members to bring a non-member guest, and are happy to report that we had 6 non-member guests attend the event.  Events such as the Pub Night give these individuals (and potential new Advocis members) a chance to meet existing members and some of the Advocis Greater Vancouver executive.  Hopefully they will see the value in Advocis membership – Advocacy, Education, and Fellowship – and take the next step by joining our organization.

To that end, a prize draw was held for members who brought a non-member guest, and we would like to congratulate Jian Fang Duan and her guest Sophie Li, who each received a Mahony & Sons gift card.

I would personally like to thank all of our attendees, the Fellowship Committee, the volunteers from ZLC Financial Group, and the staff at SSU for their help in organizing the event.

Lastly, a special thanks to Pete Mahony and his staff at Mahony & Sons for the great food and wonderful service.  We hope to hold similar events at their establishment going forward (if you haven’t been there for lunch or a pint, nothing beats the Irish Stew and a pint of Guiness on a cold soggy day like today!)
