Mark was born in Dublin, Ireland and immigrated to Vancouver, Canada with his family as a young boy.  After completing his education at Vancouver College and Vancouver City College, Mark entered the business world and quickly became a successful entrepreneur. He started and operated a number of businesses, including a two-way radio communication business that employed 25 workers.

In 1986, after being enticed to shift his sales and business expertise into the insurance and financial planning profession, Mark quickly found his real passion. After almost 30 years, that passion is still burning. Mark is currently the President and CEO of Cara Financial Inc. and his company provides services to clients worldwide. Mark specializes in the areas of business, estate and succession planning both in Canada and the US. He is also extremely knowledgeable in the areas of living benefits (disability, critical illness and long-term care insurance) and employee benefit plans.

Mark is also the chair of the Vancouver Estate Planning Conference and Business in Vancouver Estate and Charitable Giving Insert Committees.

Mark enjoys skiing in Whistler, riding his ATV through the beautiful back roads and wilderness of BC, lake and river fishing, rollerblading on the seawall, reading, cooking and golfing. He is also an avid fan of Canadian and international soccer and rugby. 

Relationships also play a very big role in Mark’s life; He and his wife Suzanne love spending quality time with family and friends and they are extremely grateful for the wonderful opportunities and experiences that life has afforded them.

Mark also believes in giving back to his community, both personally and professionally, and in addition to his volunteer activities he supports a number of local and national charities.
