Join the Fun with our new Fellowship Committee
New to Advocis Greater Vancouver this year is the Fellowship Committee, which has been given the mandate to promote further camaraderie and networking opportunities amongst our membership. The Fellowship events will be available to our members at little to no cost, so please come join the fun!
On March 22nd, we kicked off our event schedule with a Wine & Cheese reception for our Advocis Ambassadors and the “Under 5” group – Advocis members that have been in the industry for 5 years or less. The goal of this event was to give the Under 5 group a chance to meet and mingle with our Ambassadors – seasoned advisors and managers who are willing to share their expertise and experience. At the same time, it was a great opportunity for those in the Under 5 group to get to know each other in a non-business environment. While we didn’t see as many faces as we had anticipated, we hope that those that did attend enjoyed themselves and were able to make some new connections.
Last Thursday, Fellowship co-chairs Cory Murphy and Mike Healey dusted off their bowling shoes (well, not really, more like sani-sprayed the alley rental shoes) at Revs in Burnaby for the Advocis Greater Vancouver “Member Appreciation Night”. By all accounts, this event was a success, as we were able to relax, meet some new people, and enjoy some drinks and appetizers. A shout out to Frankie Lim, who showed us all how it’s done…and out of respect to everyone else that attended, we will not be posting scores!
Our next event will be an “Under 5 After 5 Pub Night” with concurrent events being run in Richmond and Downtown Vancouver. This will be geared towards the Under 5 group, providing a chance to network and share stories with others in the same stage of their careers. Further details will be made available shortly.
Lastly, I just wanted to emphasize that the purpose of the Fellowship events is to give something more to the membership, in addition to the education and advocacy efforts of our organization. Please come out, support the events, and most of all, have some fun!
